Conveyor belts for Sugar & food industry
Some belts used in the sugar and food industry need to have a surprisingly high resistance to the effects of abrasive wear while others need to possess a good level of resistance to the damaging effects of oil found in vegetable products such as grain and sugar. There are also important safety factors such as such as fire resistance and belts that operate in environments (ATEX controlled zones) where there is a risk of explosion need to be sufficiently anti-static. Another common requirement are profiled belts that convey goods up steeply inclined conveyors. And where any kind of foodstuff is being conveyed, even in its rawest form, it is always important that the rubber used in the conveyor belt conforms with REACH (Registration, Evaluation, and Authorisation of Chemical substances) regulation EC 1907/2006. These regulations include the stipulation that potentially harmful chemicals should either not be used at all or at least only used on a very restricted basis because of their category 3 carcinogenic classification.
Meeting specific needs
At Fenner Dunlop, we are proud to say that every belt we manufacture conforms to REACH regulation EC 1907/2006 and is also anti-static according to EN ISO 284 and can, therefore, be used in ATEX controlled zones. In addition, every Fenner Dunlop belt has excellent wear (abrasion) resistant properties to provide the longest possible working lifetime. The Dunlop range of hi-performance belting also includes oil resistant belting (ASTM D 1460) and chevron and profiled belts to suit a wide variety of different applications.
