An Italian steel foundry was experiencing cut problems and premature replacement of the belts that they had been buying from an Italian supplier. Although they were using a heavy-duty 800/4+1 steel breaker ply belt with 8+3 DIN Y covers, the belts were only lasting a maximum of 4 months before needing to be replaced. The conveyor carries freshly forged steel brake discs from the foundry so stopping the conveyor to carry out repairs and replacements was causing severe cost problems. The Dunlop service partner in the area persuaded the plant manager to try a Dunlop UsFlex belt. Although the buying price was twice as high, the plant manager decided to give the UsFlex 630/1 belt a trial. The average belt life increased from a maximum of 4 months to between 10 to 14 months, representing an improvement of up to 250% in the working lifetime.

The plant manager was naturally delighted. “UsFlex has an excellent quality and very good operational lifetime compared to other competitors. We no longer have unexpected stoppages. We want UsFlex belts on all of our conveyors in future”.
